LED FLASHER CANS:
Due to leds drawing a lot less power than conventional filament globes sometimes when fitting led
globes or led lamps you may find indicators rapid flash, this is due to standard flasher cans needing a
specific amount of load on the flasher can for it to operate correctly which the load is provided by the
filament globes which are found normally to be 21w style though as led draw on average 10 times less
than these standard globes the led causes less of a power draw on the flasher can.
Our led flasher cans are time sensitive meaning no matter what the load (within 0.02 - 20amp)the
indicators will flash at the correct flash rate speed.
With our led flasher cans you can use either all standard globes, all led globes or lamps or some led and
some standard, either way is fine.
The flash rate for Australian road laws is 60 - 120 flashes per minute.
You will notice we offer 2 styles of 12v led flasher cans this is due to what is found as standard on most
cars, you will need to remove your flasher can and check against our descriptions to match, you will find
the differences between the 2 styles is the positive (B, 49) and negative (E, 31) terminals are opposite
to each other, 1 is not better than the other it is simply which ever suits your car is the correct one that
you will need, if you have a 2 pin flasher can then you can fit either and then the E (earth) terminal just
connect to ground, if you have a 4 pin or more style flasher then we suggest to use the load resistors, if
your vehicle is a 24v system then we also suggest the use of the LR24 load resistors.
Load Resistor info:
If your vehicle has a globe out warning system for stop/tail or indicators, then we suggest the use of our
load resistors (LR12 for 12 volt vehicles and LR24 for 24 volt vehicles) as these will reduce the flash
rate on indicators back to normal and also correct the globe out warning light from coming up on the
dash board, these can also rectify issues that you may have found after led globes/lamps had been
fitted to your vehicle or even to your trailer, things such as cruise control stopped working as many cars
these days have on board computers it is actually the computer that detects that the tail lights are not
drawing as much current as should be and thinks there is a fault within the system so it stops the cruise
control from being able to be activated, so a load resistor can be put on the tail light circuit and break
circuit to rectify this, all vehicles are different some may only need 1 for the tail circuit and 1 for the stop
light circuit but others may need 1 load resistor per globe filament that was removed originally (meaning
1 filament = 1 load resistor for instance a indicator globe has 1 filament inside so 1 load resistor
needed or for stop/tail globes have 2 filaments = 2 load resistors 1 for tail circuit and 1 for stop circuit).
LR12 load resistors simulate the current draw of a 12v 21w bulb.
LR24 load resistors simulate the current draw of a 24v 21w bulb
Notes:
when installing the load resistors keep in mind they do get extremely hot when in operation so ensure
they are mounted to a metal surface or at least a surface that will not melt or be affected by heat
including carpeted areas, painted surfaces or opposite side of a painted surfaces as they can reach up
to 170 degrees celcius, they are waterproof so external positioning is best though ensure a good
connection is made, we always suggest solder all joins and well insulate to get a hassle free connection.
A good position to pick up the power feeds is at the trailer plug then you are not interfearing with the
original cars wiring and gives you better options for mounting the load resistors.
